THIS is the shocking moment a heartless and shameless group of people made a barbecue on top of a grave in a graveyard.
The vicar labelled their behaviour “disrespectful” after a photo of it emerged and was shared online
Locals claimed the group hosting the party in St John’s churchyard in Devizes, Wiltshire, were homeless.
Pictures of the gathering were posted on Facebook and sparked a mixed reaction.
One person said: “Disgusting and very degrading. How would they feel if it was a member of their family. I’m appalled.”
Another wrote: “I would be quite happy to think someone would use my grave as a party venue one day. That’s pretty cool.”
The gathering took place on Saturday just hours before a service at the church.
Locals said those involved in the barbecue claimed to have permission from the church and were not being disrespectful as it was not a “recent grave”.
But Revd Canon Paul Richardson said permission was “categorically” not given and it was “disgraceful” graves were “being shown such disrespect”.
